This just in from Bernadine, via Nancy:  

The County has agreed to send a representative, along with an architect, to come and look at Old Main as a possibility for renovation.  They will be there this Wednesday, July 30th, at 10:00 a.m.  If you are available, please come on out!!  


Other News:  

~ Roger and I have begun installing the shelves that were generously donated by Joan's church.  We have now moved all of the adult fiction to one side of the room.  The other side will be for adult non-fiction, reference, and children's/teen books.  Thanks again to Joan and Nancy for connecting us!  

~  Most of the displays that were donated by WPL are in place.  We have two "moveable shelving units," one for juvenile fiction, and the other for magazines.  The magazines, by the way, can be either checked out or purchased.

~  We had our last day of the school program on July 17th.  Linda and Ann each took a turn reading a book to the kids about a termite who wanted to be an architect.  The program was a great success.  We had an average of 45 kids coming in each Thursday to hear the story and participate in the activities.  A special thanks to Linda who was there each week, reading to the kids!

~  An additional note about the "Summer Reading Program" :  We will be extending it until August 21st to give the kids a chance to fill out their sheets.  All of the kids who have completed the reading sheet by then will be entered into a drawing for a set of 4 Harkin's movie tickets and 2 free popcorn tickets. 

~  Linda and I have been discussing the possibility of starting some Sunday hours (probably not until Fall, however).  Is anyone interested in volunteering on a Sunday?  Does anyone have neighbors or friends who would use the library more if we were open on a weekend day?  

~  I will be adding more features to this site, such as current statistics and requests.  This will be "coming soon," as I am pretty busy with grad school these days!  I can only do a little at a time.
